N.Y.C. Color–Red Slippers with Konad

This lovely little number is one of the N.Y.C. Color’s that I bin dived for at our local Woolworths. They never have nail polish bins so I practically wet myself when I saw them.

No, not really. But I was so excited.

My friend from work, Kate, and an old uni friend, Heidi, came over last week one evening to catch up, dip yummy strawberries into chocolate fondue, and have their nails done.

Unfortunately I took a really crappy photo of Heidi’s nails, and I hadn’t snapped a million shots of them like I do with my own. But this is Kate’s mani that she picked for her job interview the next day:

Red Slippers, two coats.

This is N.Y.C. Color’s version of Ruby Pumps, I think. It looks very similar in the bottle, just with less red glitter and more gold glitter, but the prettiness isn’t strong enough to show through the Konad-ing. I love this Konad design! You may remember it from a recent post, and I was happy to do it again because it’s so funky.

Kate loved her nails, and I hope they gave her a little confidence boost for her scary interview!

Do you like doing your friend’s nails or just your own? I love doing other people’s nails but I’m not nearly as good at it as I am with my own!

China Glaze 2NITE (OMG Collection)

Let’s just all sit down for a moment and appreciate the amazingness which is about to unfold right before your very eyes.
This may not be new to you but it’s new to me and I’m damn proud of my dusty hunting from my Adelaide trip which led me to this baby:

Mmmmmmm! How can you not love it? China Glaze’s 2NITE from the OMG collection which is sadly discontinued.
Three coats with a coat of Seche Vite. No base coat, because I’ve heard that makes application annoying and streaky. But without a base coat, this was great to apply! Just make sure you’re patient and let each coat dry completely before applying the next.
As for top coats dulling the holographic effect of these polishes … FALSE! Yes, it dulls it at first and I panicked because as I applied my SV, the polish went cloudy, but the beautiful rainbow holo effect reappeared as soon as the top coat dried.
As a result, I wore this baby for three days with no chips, no tip wear, nothin’!
I couldn’t choose which pics to show so here are a couple more:

My eyes!

My lucky, lucky eyes to behold such a pretty sight.

I cannot wait to try out the others in the collection, but I must do it slowly or I’ll be pining away for the colours I don’t have before I know it.

Do you love this as much as I do?

Bloom Edinburgh with Nubar 2010

Ah, I’m finally getting stuck into some of the polishes I bought on my Adelaide trip last weekend.

My partner chose this one when I was having trouble deciding which to try first.

Bloom Edinburgh. A gorgeous, gorgeous dark green (almost black) with a stunning shimmer through it.

This was two coats, but it is definitely a one-coater. You know me, I just like to do two even if it’s not necessary! This applied like a dream, so smooth and lovely.

I wanted to keep wearing it so after day one I added some flakies:

Nubar 2010. *Droooooool*. I love me some flakies.

But do you know what I love more?

Some matte flakies. I added a coat of China Glaze’s Matte Magic as the top coat.

I may have to get a bucket to attach to my chin because I love this. Seriously, matte flakies may just be my new ‘thing’. Don’t be surprised if you see 2010 layered on top of EVERYTHING and then mattified Smile with tongue out

Which do you prefer, matte or shiny flakies?

Major haul time

I finally got my haul from (formerly Transdesign). I am not happy because it took them a week to even post it and then it took 16 business days to get to me. I was waiting a long, long time.

Anyway, I have my parcel now but I’m not sure if I’ll be using them again!

Here’s what I got:

Mint Candy Apple, Going Incognito, Borrowed & Blue

China Glaze

C-c-courage, Blue Sparrow, First Mate. How gorgeous are these?! Seriously, I just want to wear them all now!!

Ruby Pumps and C-c-courage. Get on my nails now!

Color Club and OPI

Fashion Addict and Planks a Lot.  Seriously pretty.

Aaaand I also got my order from FeelUnique from the UK.

The Love Your Planet polishes, Greenhouse and Earth Matters. Gorgeous!

Nubar 2010. I cannot wait to layer this over everything I own!!!

Have you gotten any good hauls lately?

OPI Planks a Lot with Konad

My very first OPI! I can’t believe it took me so long!

This is Planks a Lot from the Pirates of the Carribean collection.

Three coats. Awesome formula, good coverage and wears really, really well.

It was still perfect on the second day of wear so I decided to do some Konad-ing.

Pretty, huh? I really like this full nail design. I used the Konad Princess Special Polish in Deep Purple. I think it looks pretty cool Open-mouthed smile

China Glaze Ruby Pumps

This polish has been on my “must have” list for soooo long. It is the polish which made me sit up and notice China Glaze, because for some reason I thought it was a cheap, nasty brand. How wrong I was.

Two coats of Ruby Pumps. I could have used three, but it still looks amazing. So sparkly and so much depth. I Konaded flowers onto the thumb and loved how it looked!
I wore this for four days because I was in Adelaide, but it started chipping the day after I applied it. Admittedly, I was helping my partner lift the bonnet off his car and other dirty things, so I was much rougher on them than normal. By the fourth day I was absolutely hating it because it was chipped beyond belief. I couldn’t wait to get home and get it off my nails!!!

Do you have Ruby Pumps?

Adelaide haul

So it’s time to come clean about just how much I bought in Adelaide.

I had some amazing finds which I did not expect. But I’ll save the best for last Winking smile

Their new Clean Start starter kit. I’m already so impressed with this! The face wash smells amazing and the “Bedtime for Breakouts” gel is awesome.

The lovely lady at the chemists was awesome enough to give me plenty of samples of moisturisers, scrubs and pimple cream. Love samples Open-mouthed smile

Body Care Kit. This has a huge tub of salt scrub, hand cream and foot cream plus a loofah. This stuff is amazing. The scrub leaves your skin feeling amazingly soft and it is so good for your hands. When you apply the hand cream after you scrub, your hands feel absolutely beautiful and new. This wasn’t cheap, but it will last a long time and in my opinion, it is so worth it! My partners hands have never been so soft!

Jungle Brolly Hand Shield and Lucas’ Papaw Ointment.

I’ve heard great things about the Hand Shield, so I really wanted to try it. Haven’t quite got around to it yet but I will let you guys know when I do! You can never have too many tubes of Papaw Ointment. It’s my go-to cuticle balm at the moment and it’s helping my dry, angry cuticles so much. I keep one in my handbag and apply it at work every time I come back from the ladies’. The awesome thing about it is that it’s a cuticle balm and lip balm in one!

French Manicure kit! I’ve been wanting some good french mani colours for a while and have heard that these are good. The buffer and rubber cuticle stick are a bonus too! You only get 10 nail guides which is a bit of a rip off, but luckily I have plenty already.

Confetti and Bouquet

Waterlilly, Gooseberry and Mulberry

Pacific Fever, NYC Jelly Bean (I did not even notice that this wasn’t an Ulta3 until I saw the photo!!) and Hollywood

I got these at a chemist in the Central Markets. You should have heard my squeal when I noticed the bin Smile with tongue out

Here’s a close up of Waterlilly:

Isn’t it a stunner? I don’t have one like this in my collection so I’m super excited to try it!

Such a beautiful, unique colour. I got this on sale at Target for $5.86!!!

I’ll Be Frank, Silver Screen and Paris Night.

How gorgeous are these!? I’ll Be Frank is totally unique; look at the gorgeous gold shimmer! The Silver Screen is really a very light bluey silver and is stunning. I cannot wait to try these!

They were three for $19 at Price Attack, or $7.95 each. Stunning! Mum told me to check these out and I am so glad I did!

And now, last but certainly not least:

China Glaze OMG/Kaleidescope Collections

DV8, 2NITE x2 (although one looks more purple than the other and that’s not just in the photo?! I’m going to have to try them both!), QT and Kaleidescope Him Out.

These were such a random, amazing find. My partner was getting his hair cut and I was wandering around the little shopping centre that his hairdressers are in. I spotted this little Asian nail salon and contemplated going in and though “nah, can’t be bothered” but then something propelled my lil legs towards the store and I found myself looking at a cabinet of tester China Glazes. I spotted the holos straight away, freaked out and promptly asked one of the shop assistants if they sold the polishes. The answer: YES! I initially just bought the 2NITE and Kaleidescope Him Out but when I showed them to my partner he asked if I had enquired if they had any more stock. Bless his heart! We raced back to the nail salon and I spotted the other colours that I had missed. They only had one double (the 2NITE) but I scored the DV8 and QT as well. I am sooooo excited Open-mouthed smile I have been wanting these for SO LONG!
I’m going to try out both 2NITEs and if they are the same, sell one off. But I have no idea how much to sell it for?  Any ideas?

After my China Glaze buys, I declared myself on a no buy until I had tried  most of my untrieds.

That lasted until the next night when I went to Woolworths up here where I live and spotted the brand new bin of NYC polishes for $2 each.

I agonised over whether to buy any and my partner tormented me by suggesting to buy some of the colours. Finally my lovely, amazing, wonderful partner gave me $10 and told me to go nuts. He offered $20 but I couldn’t find that many colours I liked.

I ended up with these babies:

Red Slippers (looks like a Ruby Pumps wannabe but has gold glitter), Angel (is not just straight white, has a gorgeous pearly glitter through it), Lemon, Peachy Keen and Lavender.

Aaaand now I think I’m done buying for a while. I currently have 46 untried nail polishes. 46!!!!!! One of those polishes in the photo below is the top coat for the french manicure set I mentioned above, so it doesn’t count!

So there you have it, my Adelaide haul. I did buy a few other things like shoes, socks and undies, but nothing as exciting as these finds!

Hope you enjoyed seeing my mad shopping frenzy!!

It’s Almost Friday Funny Video

Bwahahhahaha this song is GOLD.

Don’t even try to tell me you weren’t thinking of the rhyming words :P

Happy Thursday, everyone. The weekend is almost here!!

BYS Wonderland – Down the Rabbit Hole

Wow. Just … wow.

I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to try this polish!

Behold, Down the Rabbit Hole from the BYS Wonderland collection.

Three coats and it’s perfection.

This is such a great formula and the holographic glitter particles are fine enough so that the polish is nice and smooth.

Open-mouthed smile

Miki Spring Sky with Konad heart french tips and glitter

Excuse me while I wipe up the drool from my keyboard.

I love it, I love it, I love it!!!! Such a beautiful, happy colour. I’ve named this Miki mini “Spring Sky” because that’s exactly what it looks like.

This colour will definitely be featuring on my toesies once the weather warms up! Who knows when that will be though. We had some really warm days here over the past few weeks but the past two days have been raining solidly from about 4:30 in the afternoon. I have washing on the line outside that I keep hoping will dry … but I don’t think it’s going to happen Smile with tongue out

Anyway, I digress (as usual).

I’ve been wanting to try out Konad french tips for a while and I’ve also desperately been wanting to try my Konad Princess Special Polish in Blue Pearl. It is a stunning colour but obviously it doesn’t go with just any nail polish.

But it does go with Spring Sky!

Cute, right? My hearts are a little smudged because I had to use crappy non-acetone with Vitamin E nail polish remover Sad smile I ran out of my good stuff and tried to go to the shops to buy some more only to walk outside and find my partner’s ute parked behind my little beep beep Barina and the keys conveniently in his pocket with him at work. So I had to settle for the crappy remover and you’re not supposed to use remover with any moisturisers or other stuff added to it because it leaves a residue on the plate.

Meh, still looked pretty!

I topped it with the Konad Princess Special Glitter Top Coat. I LOVE this top coat. It gives the illusion of a sprinkling of fairy dust. I am so glad I got this in my kit because I never imagined it to be so beautiful.

Have you tried the Miki polishes? Are you as impressed as I am?

The Khromazone’s Birthday Giveaway Haul!

I got my BYS prize from The Khromazone’s birthday giveaway!!! Thank you so much, Cat!!!

Wonderland Down the Rabbit Hole, Colour Change Glitter Blue and Colour Change Blue.

Matte Royal Blue (which looks kinda purple!?), Sunshine and Matte Black.

Hunter Green, Pretty Pastel Peppermint, Urban Jungle and Army Chic.

I had to try the Wonderland polish first, of course, but which would you like me to try next!? I’m leaning towards Army Chic with some funky Konad-ing. Whatcha think?

Miki Fire in Her Eyes

Another one of my new mini Mikis. Also unnamed but I have dubbed this one “Fire in Her Eyes”. You like?

Ehhh. Nice colour but I’ve seen it before. The bottle has a beautiful gold shimmer through it which just doesn’t translate onto the nail Sad smile Disappointing Sad smile

However, like the other Miki’s I’ve tried, the application was beautiful and it was perfect in two coats. Love Open-mouthed smile

Do you have too many colours like this like I do?
